The Book of Acts: Lesson 12, "The Evidence of God's Blessing"
Through today’s study, we will take a trip back in time to the ancient city of Antioch. Although the early church first took root in Jerusalem and was primarily made up of Jewish believers, a violent wave of persecution caused it to spread throughout the Roman Empire. When it reached Antioch, the Holy Spirit began to draw the Gentile residents living in the city to Christ. This powerful work of God’s Spirit would become so great that it would fuel a missions movement led by the apostle Paul.
As we study this amazing moment in church history, we will each be challenged to reflect on our own life as a believer, in light of the obedience of the church in Antioch. Luke tells us that their obedience led directly to an experience of God’s blessings. Through this passage, we will discover a powerful truth: The evidence of God’s blessing is seen in the faithfulness of His people!
