The Book of Acts: Lesson 22, "The Sovereign Hand of God"
As a pastor who meets regularly with people to talk about issues they are facing in their lives, I am frequently reminded of how difficult life can be at times. There are so many different ways that unexpected hardships and disappointments can come crashing down around us. How do we face these types of trials without losing our faith and falling apart? That’s what we’ll discover through our study in Acts 23.
One of the signs of maturity in the Christian faith is an ability to respond to life’s trials in a healthy and biblical way. The apostle Paul gives us an example of what this looks like in this powerful section of Scripture. By carefully thinking through his response to persecution, we discover a powerful truth: God sovereignly arranges the details of our lives in order to accomplish his Kingdom purposes. Because God is in control, we don’t have to be!
