He Restores My Soul

There are certain parts of the Bible that affect the deepest places in our hearts. It seems like each verse strikes a new level of emotion: Who are we that God would desire a close and personal relationship with us? These are the passages in the Bible where it feels like just to recite them, is also to experience them. Psalm 23 is absolutely one of those passages!

In many ways, Psalm 23 is like an oasis in the desert of hopelessness that we so often find ourselves lost in while trying to navigate life in a fallen world. Here in this passage we find green pastures, still waters, and the promise of restoration for our souls. Even when King David experienced what he describes as the Valley of the shadow of death, God was with Him, providing for him in his time of trial.

I want to encourage you to approach this psalm like a little child who is being comforted on their father’s lap. Let the words cause you to rest in His presence and find comfort in His love.
