The Gospel According to John - Lesson 3, "The Lamb of God"

Oct 4, 2026  •  Brock Peters

As we continue our way through John, we are given one of the most powerful pieces of symbolism in all of Scripture. John the Baptist refers to Jesus as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!” His Jewish onlookers would have understood the significance of this statement. They were used to celebrating the Passover Feast and the daily sacrifices at the temple. In each case, a perfect, spotless lamb was required. When God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth, He became the ultimate sacrifice for sin. He became the “Lamb of God.” We no longer have to offer annual or daily sacrifices because Jesus has paid the “once for all” price! If you’ve never done so, today is the day to put your hope, faith, and trust in Jesus so that you can have a relationship with your Creator!
