Discerning the Times: Lesson 1, "The Foundation"

Jan 11, 2026    Brock Peters

We are living in a moment that demands more than passion, effort, or good intentions. Like the sons of Issachar, God is calling His people to be men and women who understand the times and know what to do. The world around us is loud, fast, and overflowing with information, yet clarity feels harder to come by than ever. Truth is questioned, redefined, and often reduced to personal preference—even within the church. As followers of Christ, we cannot afford to drift through these days unaware or undiscerning. Strength alone is not enough; wisdom rooted in God’s truth is essential.

As we begin this series, my heart is not to challenge you to try harder, but to invite you to lean deeper into the Holy Spirit. Biblical discernment does not come from human insight or willpower—it flows from intimacy with God, immersion in His Word, and sensitivity to His Spirit. Over the coming weeks, we will lay a foundation that helps us evaluate what we consume, what we believe, and how we live through a Christ-centered lens. My prayer is that, like Issachar, we would grow in spiritual insight, stand firmly on God’s truth, and respond faithfully to the times we are living in.

In His Service,

Pastor Brock
