Heart of Worship: Transformed Through Worship

Mar 2, 2025    Steve Byrens

In my preparation for this morning’s message, I found a list of words in both Hebrew and Greek that our English Bibles translate as the word “praise.” In Hebrew, to praise God carries the idea of “singing spontaneously from your heart directly to God, kneeling or falling on your face in adoration, and boasting or raving about God.” In Greek, it means “to turn towards to kiss, adore, or revere.” It can also mean, “to serve, to do acts of service demonstrating your allegiance to the Lord, to show respect to God.” All of these words describe actions that are the overflow of a heart that is in love with God. This is the essence of what must take place in the heart of a believer who desires to live a life of worship before God.

In this morning’s message we will focus on a life changing truth: When we allow our hearts and minds to be washed in the Word of God, they are transformed into vessels that God can use for His Kingdom. This is what the Apostle Paul means when he says “let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

In His Service,
