Richie Johnson
Deacon
I grew up in Jackson, Michigan. Ours wasn’t a Christian home, even though my mother accepted the Lord as her personal Savior, while very young. We attended several area churches on an occasional basis. Then in 10th grade, our family attended a Baptist church almost every week.
My dad received a promotion and we moved to Charlotte in 1970. The family attended Calvary Baptist church on a regular basis. It was here that my dad received the Lord as his Savior. During that time, I was active in the church helping with the “Boys Brigade” youth program and also several sports teams.
In 1978, we moved to Union City, Michigan and during this time I wasn’t following the Lord. Later, we found a church in Battle Creek and began attending. We moved back to Charlotte in the winter of 2013. Suzi and I were invited to City on a Hill in 2014 by our son, Skip. Since then, my faith is much stronger and I pray for the Lord to use me for His good.
