The Gospel of John- Lesson 1, "Introduction"

From the heart! - The Gospel of John is the fourth and final Gospel in the New Testament. The word Gospel means The Good News. Each of the four Gospels was written to proclaim The Good News about the coming of Jesus Christ. The Gospels record eyewitness accounts of the life, ministry, and death of Jesus Christ. Each Gospel account emphasizes a different aspect of Jesus’ life: Matthew emphasizes Jesus as the Jewish Messiah, Mark emphasizes Jesus as a Servant, Luke emphasizes Jesus as a Man, and John emphasizes Jesus as God. 

One of John’s primary themes is that eternal life comes by believing in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. 

John 3:15, “so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.

John 3:16, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 6:35, “Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 6:40, “For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in Him should have eternal life.”

John wants us to understand that eternal life is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As we begin our study of this important book, we will discover a life-changing truth: If you think of God as impersonal and distant, waiting to judge you every time you fail, then the Gospel of John has some amazing news for you: “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
