Easter Sunday, Every Tomb Has a Story

Apr 20, 2025    Steve Byrens

Since the beginning of time, human beings have wrestled with the question of purpose: What is the point of human existence? Why are we here? Deep down, we all long to find the answer to these important questions because we all want our lives to have meaning and purpose. That is why Easter Sunday is so amazing. It is the pinnacle of God’s revelation to mankind and a celebration of God’s ultimate answer to our questions about life. Everything we need to know about God and His plans for us is summed up in the empty tomb we celebrate here this morning.

It is interesting to think about the importance of burial tombs to our understanding of the past. In fact, archeologists and historians put great emphasis on what they find in tombs. They do this because every tomb tells a story, and this is true about Jesus’ tomb as well. As we look at the events that unfolded on that first Easter Sunday, we will discover a powerful truth: The empty tomb testifies to Jesus’s ultimate power, a power that provides us with an ultimate purpose: To experience eternal life with our Creator!
