I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI.  My parents divorced when I was in the 4th grade.  My family, including my stepdad, attended church, but it seemed to be more of an obligation and "checking-a-box" than anything about a relationship with Jesus.  My teen and young adult years were filled with running from and trying to hide from God.

In 1986, I moved to Lansing for work.  I always worked hard, and in my mind, that meant I could play hard.  It is here that I met Cindy, my wife of 39 years (and counting).  We had a very bumpy start but landed in Mason, started our family of 3 kids, then found a local church.  The party life finally came to a very abrupt end at a Camp Barakel men’s retreat on October 15, 1994.  Tom Harmon preached on Galatians 6:7-8.  Jesus made it very clear that the seeds I was planting would never lead to a good harvest.  The chain of events that led me to that place on that night is truly the Hand of God.  That night I was born again into a new life of following Jesus.  Cindy and I were blessed to have some very positive mentors, and our relationship with Jesus began to take shape.

We moved from Mason to Gaylord for 10 years and now have called Eaton Rapids home for the last 20 years.  We are grandparents and continue to grow closer to Jesus and each other.  Being led to City on a Hill a few years ago and serving wherever we can has been a huge blessing in our lives.  We love our CHCC family.
