Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Matthew 6:21

Why we give.

"Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." -2 Corinthians 9:7

We believe giving is an act of worship, a way that honors God (Proverbs 3:9), while living mindfully that ALL we own is the Lord's. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel.

Ways To Give

Give Online

You can give online using the form on this page or via our App . ACH (checking account) is our highly preferred method of payment because it saves us money on fees.

Give In Person

Rather than pass the plate during service, we have decided instead to encourage members to give as the Lord leads by placing their gifts in the tithe box in our lobby.

Mail A Check

Gifts can also be sent by mail to: City On A Hill Community Church, PO Box 170, Olivet, MI, 49076.

Financial FAQs

How will I receive my year-end statement?

If you have given financially this year, you can expect to receive an emailed or mailed acknowledgement of your contributions no later than January 31 of the following calendar year. If you have changed your physical address or email address in the past year, please make sure our records are up to date by emailing cityonahill@chccmi.com.

If you plan to make a tax deductible gift to City On a Hill for the tax year ending on December 31, according to IRS rules, your contribution is effective when delivered. In order for your gift to be considered "delivered," it must be:
  • Postmarked by the USPS no later than December 31 of that year, or
  • Given online before 11:59 PM December 31, or
  • Placed in one of the offering boxes by December 31 of that year.

How do you use your budget?

Every single dollar stewarded at City On A Hill is strategically deployed to advance God's mission here and around the world!

Does City on a Hill have any debt?

We are thankful that we do not have any debt.

What is your typical budget?

Our typical budget is $340,000. 80% of our budget goes directly to Kingdom work, including ministries, staff, and  local and global missions. 20% of our budget goes toward operating, maintaining, and developing our facility.

Why don't you pass the offering plate?

It’s not because there isn’t a need. We believe the best way to facilitate joyful giving (2 Corinthians 9:7, Matthew 6:4) is not to prompt it with a specific moment in the service, but to provide our body with opportunities to give as the Lord leads.

What financial safeguards do you have in place?

  1. We have a 3rd party CPA that validates all accounting aspects, including giving statements, and all bank activity.
  2. We have processes in place to ensure that no one handles any money alone. On Sundays, money received is counted by 2 individuals and deposited. That deposit is then verified by the bank, Ministry Director and CPA.
  3. Very limited people have access to the bank accounts. The CPA firm has viewing access to all CHCC bank accounts.
  4. Weekly financial oversight is completed by the Administrative Team.
  5. Monthly financial oversight and balancing is completed by the CPA.
  6. We maintain withdrawal caps on all accounts.
  7. The CHCC debit card is only used by approved individuals and all purchases require a written expense form and approval from the Ministry Director and/or Admin Team.
